Urban Gym Group Opens Arkhe in Dubai, a Club Built Around Recovery

The European operator's new club pairs strength training and outdoor hybrid work with a full recovery suite (cryotherapy, hyperbaric chamber, infrared sauna). The opening lands two months before Hyrox Dubai.

Urban Gym Group (UGG) has opened Arkhe in Dubai Marina, inside Silverene Tower, through a joint venture with entrepreneur Stewart Miller. The club combines a traditional strength floor, an outdoor hybrid training area, and a full recovery suite: traditional and infrared saunas, an ice bath, a hyperbaric chamber, compression boots, and red light therapy. A Pilates reformer studio and longevity diagnostics run by Longevity-UK round out the offering.

UGG now runs more than 60 clubs across four countries. Board chair Jordy Kool relocated his family office to Dubai to invest in the region, cited in the piece as one of the world's five fastest-growing wellness markets. Competition is heating up too: GymNation just secured a $100 million private credit facility to open around 100 clubs across the Gulf within three years, while UFC Gym and Anytime Fitness are also expanding there.

The opening lands two months before Hyrox Dubai, set for November 27 and 28, 2026, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. Packing that much recovery equipment under one roof directly serves race preparation: stacking quality sessions requires serious recovery between blocks, especially in a climate as demanding as the Gulf's. The open question is pricing, often steep in this market, and whether a club like this stays reachable for an amateur competitor rather than an exclusively premium clientele.
